Akinola's work is situated between West Africa and the UK as he identifies as a member of the global diaspora, being part of both worlds. His work navigates the collision of colonial and imperial traditions and a return to indigenous narratives. He is resident at Somerset House Studios and was included in the Berlinale Talents 2020.
