Award-winning filmmaker and immersive storytelling artist Michael Beets presents his masterclass.
Sitting at the crossroads between film, video art and virtual reality, Michael talks us through his process and his inspirations, analysing his most innovative projects. He also shares his experiences of seeing his work screened at some of the world’s biggest festivals, including Venice, Toronto and Cannes.
Michael Beets is an award winning director. His virtual reality projects, music videos, and films have been screened at festivals around the world including Venice Film Festival, Cannes, Busan, Toronto International Film Festival, and the Melbourne International Film Festival. In 2018 his interactive VR work titled ‘The Unknown Patient’ was nominated for two awards at the 75th Venice Film Festival, and won the VR Award at the Adelaide Film Festival.
He’s new project, IN THE SHADOW IT WAITS - a live psychological horror film, part of the official Raindance Film Festival 2020 selection, has been praised by critics for it’s novel form and is currently touring the world. Watch it performed live on Halloween.
